I try to follow Elmore Leonard’s No. 8 Rule of Writing - avoid detailed descriptions of characters - so I’ve put items in Barnaby’s room so you can discover who he is, or who you think he is, without huge talk bubbles wasting precious panel space. But I violate Elmore’s Rule No. 5 - you are allowed no more than two or three exclamation points for every 100,000 words of prose - on a daily basis! Right here!! Sorry, Elmore.
Blink is a spooky and sad episode of Doctor Who written by Stephen Moffat from Season Two with David Tennant (sniff) and Freema Agyeman chock full of so many quotable quotes I’d need a “big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey . . . stuff” to list them all. I do have a tee-shirt which reads “Well... four things and a lizard.” I can only see the actress Carey Mulligan, who is now in loads of movies, as Sophie Sparrow!
Uhm... Carey Mulligan's character's name is SALLY Sparrow, not Sophie. You should listen to Chameleon Circuit - four guys from YouTube got together and wrote songs about Doctor Who.
I already know Chameleon Circuit, I've listened to their songs for ages! Oh, whoops, thanks for pointing out that mistake -- everyone makes errors sometimes...
Barnaby has a Doctor Who scarf? Amazingness at every turn. Blink was the episode that stopped my best friend from watching Doctor Who. It's funny cause thats the only one she had ever seen.
AND an opinion I can completely agree with regarding Steven Moffat!
He USED to be one of the all-time finest Doctor Who writers (including all 26 seasons of the original run), but now... when he's good, he's still amazing, but when he's bad (which is FAR more often)... he's crap.
By the way, on the off-chance anyone didn't know, the classic and new series are all canon (as much as I wish stuff like that whole River Song story arc wasn't... [I mean, there are still great stories connected to it, like all the stuff with the Silence in "The Impossible Astronaut"/"Day of the Moon" is fantastic, as is 95% of the second Weeping Angels story, etc. but that stuff feels tainted now...]).
I'm so sorry! I told my friend about Chapel Chronicles and she said it sounded amazing and I let her comment on my computer. We were both really distracted at that time, so.... Sorry if I confused you!!!!
Harry Dresden does not need a wand to cast magic. and if you read the books he's in (granted it is MUCH more adult than Potter's books are) you would agree with me. all the ones that are out are in paper back and in book stores now, so finding them shouldn't be too hard.
I know that HP PWNS ALL, but you really should read the Mysterious Benedict Society! The chapter were so good that I had a hard time NOT peeking at the very last part of each chapter!
I LOVE MBS!!!! I actually wrote to Trenton Lee Stewart a couple of years ago and aked him to sign my copy of The Prisoner's Dilemma. HE DID!!! :DDD And I also got back this pre-typed letter answering fan questions, but that was still awesome because he signed that too XDDDD
Oh. Let's see:
Dr. Who picture thingy
Poster that has (something) vampires on it
Cowboy hat
Possibly the Harry Potter books on the top shelf
....And that's all I can see.
The vampire poster is from the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer! And the "Harry Potter books" are actually Doctor Who DVDs. There are still a couple other Easter Eggs, though.
I love the last two panel! Chapel and Barnaby look so cute together on his bed!
and yes, the bed and the bedroom is actually very nice.
Oh, and I LOVE those expressions in the last panel
LOL
Oh & BTW is that a garden gnome in their house plant?!?
And that picture says Dr. who..
and even though you don't really see it... is that a Buffy the Vampire slayer poster behind their "word bubble(s)"?
Yup, Barnaby has a little gnome in his plant! And you have a VERY keen eye with the Buffy poster! The picture actually says "Doctor Who Convention," with a younger Barnaby in the photo too. Still, you didn't catch all of the easter eggs!
if Chapel wasn't so distracted by the good Doctor, she could have found one of the largest cardboard boxes in the house (I am sure there are plenty with her folks ordering all sorts of stuff though the mail). have Barnaby hide in the box, then tape it up and quickly decorate it like a present. after that, Chapel would drag her parents over to it, and annouce their early birthday present (or what ever hoilday that was near) then let them open the box.
Yes, that's exactly why I haven't watched it in a while...I stuck with it when it started, but as Barnaby says in the strip, the writing really lowered in quality in my opinion...I don't know! I don't have anything against people who enjoy it though!
...... i'm a bit disapointed in that you all haven't been keeping up with the good doctor, poor writing or not. at least try to watch the 2011 christmas episode "The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe".
come to think about it, even the worst writen episode is better by far than 90% of the shows being running right now on our side of the atlantic. ><
I'm partly responsible for not watching Season 5 of Doctor Who as I didn't enjoy it and DW was something Emma and I did together as a special mom-and-daughter event every Saturday. Sadly, we've not found something to replace it.
Mrs. Marie, season 6 is up and i will suggest giving it a try. no matter how bad it may seem, a true fan will never let go of a show even after a few poor epiasodes. I sat down and watched the whole of star trek TNG, you two should be able to handle some Doctor Who.
The only other show i know of right now worth watching would be "Game of thrones". But that is on the HBO channel and it has some serious points in it that adult level content. Other than that, it is a VERY good show. one of the best i have seen in in a long time.
I think season 5 may not have been as good as most of the David Tennant seasons, but I think that it was mostly the writing. I've found season 6 to be my favorite season of doctor who so far. I don't think I've liked anyone new in the doctor who shows for at least their first 3-5 episodes, but as time went on I warmed up to each of the character changes.

The League of Fonts
THE LEAGUE OF FONTS is where typefaces are born. Every time a font is created in the world, it manifests as a living, breathing, Font – human for all intents and purposes, but unable to age or die unless their typeface falls into disuse. They live together on the League of Fonts, which serves as a secret island hub, bustling corporation, and home. It’s a world full of its own internal intrigues like any office, and Times New Roman is its powerful CEO. He’s got a lot on his plate lately: planning the League’s famous Decennial party, struggling with modern technology, and hiding his embarrassing addiction to the Twilight movies. Times New Roman is confident he can keep everything under control…but what’s an old font to do when a young boy named Louis Pepping accidentally stumbles onto the secrets of the League?
Find out every Wednesday!

I love Barnaby's expression in the 3rd panel. Made me laugh SO HARD!
Dr. Who picture thingy

Cowboy hat

I can only wish they were HP ;D
And I take it he's obsessed with Dr. Who?
awesome!
and yes, the bed and the bedroom is actually very nice.

i do like how barnaby is being drawn now. I'm seeing big improvements in your quality Miss Emma. Keep it up!
btw, do any of you watch tv like Chapel does? (while laying down in bed anyway)
Thank you for the compliment, you're too kind! And no, I never watch TV in bed!
SURPRISE! >)
Actually, don't bother watching Series 6, the silence are creepy, but the rest of the series is pretty terrible.
