I am poking fun at my own (non-existent) dancing skills in this strip and I know I’m not alone in this! My mother is a great dancer but I have no rhythm to speak of. So my mom chuckles when she sees me trying to bust a move to my favorite singers (right now, I love Marina and the Diamonds, notice Marina somewhere in this strip?). My mom says she’s confident she can teach me to dance. We shall see, Marie Astaire.

Hmm, I wonder if “Dancing with Hedgehogs” could become a new reality show? Who knows, Barnaby could be a trendsetter! Soon enough, we’ll see Hedgie musicals! “Wicked: Plus Hedgehogs,” “The Hedgie of the Opera,” even “The Drowsy Hedgehog,” based upon my favorite musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone.”

What are some songs, musicals, or singers you could hedgehog-ify? Leave me your creative ideas in the comments, and my favorite will get a cameo in the background of next week’s comic!
I completely missed this comic last week... I was sure it hadn't been a week since the last one. lol

This one's probably one of my favorites... not sure why. haha

Are you able to draw people facing a direction other than directly forward.
8/7/12 reply
Yes, I am!

Veroncia Mars ♥ One of my favorite shows, part because it's so great, part because it was filmed in my hometown and its fun to go "OOOH I'VE BEEN THERE" while watching.
8/6/12 reply
Oh, where was it filmed? I'm midway through Season 2, it's very good.
8/7/12 reply
San Diego. I actually almost went to the high school they used as Neptune High's set.

DOCTOR WHO
YES
8/6/12 reply
Yay Doctor Who!
8/7/12 reply

oh, here is something you might not have heard about. The upcoming "Thor 2" live action movie will pit Thor verses Doctor Who.
8/5/12 reply
What do you mean? Is one of the Doctor Who actors playing Thor's enemy?
8/6/12 reply
Christopher Eccleston, the ninth Doctor, is apparently playing Malekith the Accursed.
Whoever that is.
8/6/12 reply
In Norse Mythos, they had elves as well. In Thor cannon, Malekith seems to be the closest they can get to a Drow with out Wizards of the Coast slapping someone with a copy right law suit. anyway, Malekith seems to be a real bad ass in his own right, but i don't know just yet if he is working with Loki or not in this plot. time will tell i guess.
8/6/12 reply
Ah, I see! You're quite knowledgeable on this franchise, Taxil...
8/7/12 reply
yea... you can say that. ^^;;;
8/8/12 reply
Actually, if Wizards of the Coast ever tried suing someone for using dark elves, they'd get laughed out of court with the testimony of any number of noted folklore experts.

They can't even sue over the use of the word "drow" as it's a long established variant spelling of "trow" ( the dark fae-like creatures of the Shetland and Orkney Isles ).

It'll be interesting to see if they keep Malekith's comic appearance.
8/7/12 reply
I'm not so sure about that. Wizards of the Coast is owned by Hasbro toy company. THEY have really deep pockets to get the best lawyers out there to intimidate those they can and convince the judges for those they can't.

NEVER underestimate the cunning of the lawyers and stupidity of Judges.

anyway, i wonder where Stan "the Man" Lee will cameo in this one.
8/8/12 reply
True, they have deep pockets. But, since they don't have a claim on the name or concept as their own intellectual property ( as they do with Mind Flayers and Beholders ), it would take a really stupid or corrupt judge to side with them.

And since it's not a supreme court case, they'd actually have to do research to find a corrupt judge.
8/8/12 reply
that is probably not to hard to get in the 9th Ciruit. they are loaded the moon batty ones that could do the trick.

on the other hand, it is also more than likely we will NEVER have to worry about it at all.
8/8/12 reply
And on another point, Hasbro toys is making the Avenger's action figures, so they'd be less inclined to lose the 'rights' to make the toys verse some frivolous lawsuit they may not even win.
evilrizwiz 8/10/12 reply
Ah, the 9th Doctor isn't my favorite, but Eccleston is a marvelous actor! Perhaps I'll see the movie just for him, but I haven't seen the first Thor...
8/7/12 reply

Funny!!
8/5/12 reply
Thanks, I'm glad you think so! What's the funniest part to you?
8/6/12 reply

DOCTOR WHO! Barnaby! Silly goose!
CJ 8/4/12 reply
What do you mean? Do you mean to hedgehog-ify Doctor Who?
8/6/12 reply

Am I the only one who thought of Jim Moriarty? Has Chapel met her arch-enemy?
8/3/12 reply
Do you mean it'd be Hedgehog Moriarty? ;) And why would he be Chapel's archenemy?
8/6/12 reply
No, I mean Barnaby, since he's dancing to Jim's ringtone.
8/9/12 reply

A movie version of The Elegance of the Hedgehog!
8/3/12 reply
That would be nice! But it doesn't really count as it already includes a hedgehog...can you think of something else to hedgehog-ify?
8/6/12 reply

yay pushing daises i never watched it but i heard good things great strip very funny
Yarin 8/3/12 reply
Pushing Daisies is wonderful, you should give it a try! And I'm happy you like the strip -- do you have any musical hedgehog ideas?
8/3/12 reply

when even i hear "Bohemian rhapsody" from Queen on my car radio when i am driving, i WILL head bang to it right from "Wayne's world"! air drums, sing along and all! i have no shame at times, nor regrets for this.
8/3/12 reply
I LOVE "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Wayne's World" is hilarious! Our music teacher from sixth grade showed it to us during class, it's hilarious! Good to know you don't feel shame for headbanging!
8/3/12 reply
Hum, have you head banged to it as well? the movie is old enough that your parents could have been head banging to it as well.

Miss Emma, go ask your parents if they did that. I'm curious about it.
8/8/12 reply
Wooooo headbanging! Also I love love love that song. There's a version of it being performed in American Sign Language on YouTube that always makes me laugh my head off :)
8/6/12 reply

You have completely mimicked my brother in every way. Pure coincidence? I think not.
8/3/12 reply
How have I mimicked him? That's interesting!
8/3/12 reply

Whenever the subject of 'hedgehogs' comes up, I can't help but think of the hedgehog dilemma, which doesn't really get my creative juices going. So all I was inspired to come up with would be 'A Hedgehog and a Gentleman' (An Officer and a Gentleman) and 'Mitch Hedgehogberg' (Mitch Hedberg).

On another side note, those speakers look a lot like some Altec Lansings I had a few years ago. Very nice touch.
evilrizwiz 8/3/12 reply
oh mitch hedberg he was so funny now i made myself sad :(
Yarin 8/3/12 reply
Oh, is he diseased? That's a shame...
8/3/12 reply
diseased deceased close enough :) not sure why, but this made me laugh.

Oops! Well, I'm on vacation currently and answering all the comments on my phone, so typos are inevitable.
8/6/12 reply
No need for an excuse. Heck, I've made enough of them in my comments on this site alone and I'm on a computer. We ALL make 'em. I just found this one mistake of yours to be humorous in its nature.
blaidd gwael 8/6/12 reply
enjoy your trip Miss Emma, let us know where you went and such when you get back.
8/6/12 reply
yeah he died back in 05 if you can find some of his performances on youtube i suggest watching them
Yarin 8/4/12 reply
I love your choices, really good job! I'm not familiar with Mitch Hedberg, but now you've educated me! And actually, you have a wonderful eye. The speakers are based off my family's Altec Lansings!
