Dr. Lia Smith, Chapel’s mom, got a job offer to relocate to a different hospital, a position that would come with a pay increase. While the Smith family did have to move in order to accommodate her new job, they were able to move out of the rented apartment they’d been staying in and buy a nice, if slightly old, house just on the outskirts of the city and within commuting distance of Lia’s new hospital. Sam Smith Esq., Chapel’s dad, has clients in various places, so the move didn’t change his commute very much. And with Chapel and Barnaby getting bigger and bigger every day, it made sense for the family to move.
I’m really happy with how the last two panels came out – especially after I realized that panel 3 kind of looks like a car commercial! This strip will have a continuation next week, so you’ll get to see even more of child Barnaby and toddler Chapel.
