I can relate, but my problem runs in the opposite direction: my hair is so straight they could use it as a level. When the air is dry, however, it's a potent energy-weapon that generates enough static electricity to fry several computers at once (It actually did that at one of my jobs...) When it's humid is the only time it's safe to be around.
Well, it's not as impressive as it might sound. It was during the winter and the air was severely dry. I'd already sparked a couple of co-workers that day and when I sat down at my computer a spark jumped about 2 inches from my hand to the keyboard. I was using an iMac, so the jolt ended up killing the keyboard and caused enough damage to the board inside the computer that they had to replace the whole thing. Since then I've been using much more conditioners during the winter to control it and avoid a repeat.
I will do more! The next one I do probably won't be Chapel-related drawings, but starting in early May I may do weekly livestreams so everyone can see me create each week's comic! Does anyone like that idea?
A guy, sees a pic of a lady, falls in love, wants to go back in time 2 find her, finally does it . He meets her, falls in love, she too, she has 2 leave, so he's upset when she does, but she doesn't really. Then, they are talking and all of a sudden finds a penny from the time he's from. Goes back to his time, is depressed and dies. Later, he and the girl are reunited but, still, it wasn't one of my faves. :(
Yup, that's how it works! Usually people who livestream type along with their viewers in the chat, but I find it's easier if I just talk out loud. That way I don't have to stop drawing to respond.
OKAY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! Tomorrow (Saturday) I'm going to be doing a livestream! If you don't know what that is, it's basically where you get to see me work on Chapel comics and drawings in real time. The best part is, there's an I'm chat function on the side -- you don't need an account or anything -- which lets me chat with all of you during the stream! I'll be starting around 12 noon pacific time, or 3 pm for you east coasters, and continuing for several hours. So feel free to pop in and watch! All you have to do is go once I've started recording. And that's it! Hope to see you guys there!
Ha, my hair is EXACTLY like that in humidity! Mine is long and quite curly, it's insane to control. I always wish I had straight hair, but straightening it is such a bother...xP
Oh, mine is straight but quite fluffy/frizzy. I LOVE curly hair thoguh, my mom's hair is so pretty and curly! Although everyone hates the humidity...I feel your pain...
Yikes. I think we could fit a few Chapels in her hair alone!
Luckily I don't have much trouble with my hair when it's humid. I dunno, maybe because it's so long it weighs down the frizz. LOL, BUT then again since it IS long, what isn't messed up with humidity just makes me hot during the summer anyway.
How long is your hair? Since mine's pretty short, it gets fluffed up by the humidity fairly easily -- and doesn't bother me so much in summer! But then again, the summers around here are dry instead of humid.
Thanks so much! I'm glad this happens to you too -- I mean, I'm not glad because bad hair days are no fun, but it's good that you can relate to this strip! :D
Well, where I live isn't that humid, so when I did go to humid places my hair would spring up everywhere. It was more a problem with the hair in front of my face....
Oh, it's in the previous comment zone. Here: A car pulls up to a hotel. A woman screams and a guy gets rich really fast. What's happened? Hint #1: There is nobody in the car. Hint# 2 No casino with the hotel.
I love this one!!!! Chapel's hair is so poofy in the last panel. I love it!!!! My hair isn't effected too much by the humidity. Then again, I haven't gone to too many places that are really humid............................
Oh, I see! Yeah, it doesn't tend to get that humid here in California, but at other places I've visited it can get pretty awful. And I'm super glad you like this strip! You're lucky your hair isn't affected by humidity.
i remember some years ago when i was delivering Christmas dinner baskets to the needy. a young child, couldn't have been much older than 6 (and was one of the needy i gave food too) asked me if i was santa clause. I gave him a vague reply and basicly told him if he stayed a good boy, he might see me again.
deep down inside me and in hind sight, maybe i was the closest that little boy would have to a santa clause that year.
I think i remember seeing that boy sense then. He has grown up quite a bit. i do hope he'll be able to rise up from where we came from and at least live a good life.
Mrs. Marie (Emma's mother), for years i have volunteered my time and work to my church's food pantry that gives food to the needy. I have literally given out and transported hundreds of tons of food already.
From my exprience that you do not need to turn to the government to help the needy, because in the end, they can't do the job right. Helping others over seas might help for a short bit of time, but rarely does it last. I think that we can help the poor right here were we live. there will always be the poor among us, that does not mean they have to suffer as much as they do.
I find helping others with our own hands can make miracles to form. The church helps out even more.
Mrs. Marie, i do not know if you go to church with Miss Emma or not, nor am I asking you to tell me about it. but please think about what i do with my church to help others, can you and your family do the same as i do?
Omigosh! I just put down a comment here to tell you how funny it was!!! But then something happened and the comment was put in A Very Chapel Christmas!! Sorry! Well, if you go over there, you can see what I said. Plus you know that I wasn't laughing and the Christmas comic.... ;p
It's okay, I saw it! The site emails me whenever someone makes a comment, so I figured out what happened. Was it a problem with the website, or did you just accidentally go to the page of A Very Chapel Christmas?
Aaaah I'm glad you like it! I had SO MUCH FUN WITH IT oh my gosh.
Also, since you're the first one here today: If I did a livestream tomorrow (Saturday) would you be interested in watching? I'd probably color some Chapel comics, do some drawings of my other characters, and then take requests.
ITS OK.
I LUV THE HAIR, EMMA!!! TOTALLY AWESOME. LUCKILY THERE'S NOT 2 MUCH FRIZZ HERE!!! WOULD MOVE IF WAS-CAN'T STAND MESSY HAIR!!! MUST...BRUSH...MUST...BRUSH... -CLARE
Haha!!! Very funny. And where oh where is Dr. Taxil Necrobane!!! Want him 2 join us. But will probably always correct us!!! (just kidding) I wouldn't mind though. DR!!! -AR
Nope! I'm on spring break this week, but I'm finishing up a book of Chapel comics so it doesn't really count -- it's more of a "work vacation" so to speak.
the last one i had was when i went back up to equally beloved place known as the Keweenaw Peninsula. (go look it up, it's real, i'm not joking). It's quiet other than the sounds of nature. I get unplugged from the modern world. I can walk down to the shore at night away from the few lights and see the night sky as it really is and the milky way in all it's rarely seen these days glory.
have any of you seen the milky way with your own eyes?
NOPE! that bear was more scared of me than the other way around. black bears are not that agressive. just don't courner them or mess with their young, they will try to run away.
besides, i have the means to deal with them. that and i find black bears rather tasty once you BBQ them right.
I have eaten a number of wild animals in my days. Most of them tasted wonderful. there is nothing weird in doing so. Humans can eat more than you realize from earth's biosphere. There is more to it than chicken, beef, pork and turkey.
There's this boy in my class, and he is TOTALLY obsessed with ostriches! My BFF'S Mom once ate an ostrich wing, thinking it was a chicken wing. She told ostrich-boy that, and now he thinks I ate one too!!!

Guys, I'm gonna have to say that I'd prefer you don't. First off, any comments that have a phone number in them are gonna be deleted just for security reasons -- and secondly if you're going to be on the phone, can't you chat on the phone and not on this website?
Yep! We wouldn't want anyone's phone number being stolen off the site, and plus since they're supposedly cousins, they must have some way to give it to each other privately. It's more safe that way!
No, no, that's not what I meant! It's TOTALLY fine for you guys to chat on the site, just maybe keep it a tad more on topic...anyways, please keep chatting and commenting, it's all good!
My hair is really frizzy-at all times! It's really annoying, because at school we're running laps outside, and POP! my hair looks like Chapel's!!!! -Robin
Hmm...well, I'm still not totally sure I'll be able to do it -- but if I do, it'll probably start around noon my time (so 3 pm for you) and then continue for several hours! I don't really have a set schedule, but if enough people want to watch the livestream and I'm able, then I'll probably do it. (I'll announce it on my tumblr if I am doing it, of course).
check out Emma T Capps new web comic SUNNY,
The League of Fonts
THE LEAGUE OF FONTS is where typefaces are born. Every time a font is created in the world, it manifests as a living, breathing, Font – human for all intents and purposes, but unable to age or die unless their typeface falls into disuse. They live together on the League of Fonts, which serves as a secret island hub, bustling corporation, and home. It’s a world full of its own internal intrigues like any office, and Times New Roman is its powerful CEO. He’s got a lot on his plate lately: planning the League’s famous Decennial party, struggling with modern technology, and hiding his embarrassing addiction to the Twilight movies. Times New Roman is confident he can keep everything under control…but what’s an old font to do when a young boy named Louis Pepping accidentally stumbles onto the secrets of the League?
Find out every Wednesday!
Did Taxil ever show?

That happens to me too, because my hair is a little curly and more than a little hard to control... Great strip Emma!
