And now, for something completely serious...depending on the DRM scheme in use, poor Chapel might have a really hard (and/or expensive) time getting "her" music back. Too bad she spent her allowance on Gaga outfits ;)
YESSSSSS!!!!
I got tickets, uh huh uh huh, to The Hunger Games, uh huh uh huh, but sadly, uh huh uh huh, not at midnight, uh huh uh huh, but at 7:00 PM on the 23rd, uh huh uh huh, I'm SO EXCITED EEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH
I LOVE PEETA SO MUCH

YOU HAVE NO IDEA
Sweet! I'm actually am not a huge HG fan.. probably because I have NOT read the books yet..... Have you ever read Gregor the Overlander? It's the same author as the Hunger Games.... I've read most of it, I just haven't read like some of the last book, but I think you should read it!
Oh my god oh my god I NEED TO GET TICKETS! My mom, my best friend, and I are all gonna go together! My mom and I ADORE Peeta, but my friend likes Gale better...
...
WUT
YOU MUST READ THE HUNGER GAMES
Honestly, it's WAY too complicated to explain here, but basically it's set several thousand years into the future in a country called Panem (meaning bread in Latin). It's run by a cruel government called the Captiol, run by evil President Coriolanus Snow. Each year since an infamous rebellion occurred that destroyed the 13th District of Panem, there is an annual Hunger Games, which pits one boy and girl, ages 12 to 18, from each of the 12 remaining Districts against each other in a fight to the death.
See? Very complicated, and I haven't even gotten to Katniss or Prim or Gale or...
PEEEEEEETTTTTTTAAAAAA <333333
This response's information is courtesy of yabbering friend.
The Hunger Games were assembled to put on a show for the rich snotty people from the Capitol. The whole thing is live (I think) on television, as I said, for entertainment.
I'm not sure, but I don't really think the country is called bread.
And the districts get poorer as the numbers increase.
Katniss is the main character, Prim (Primrose) is her sister. Gale is her friend who calls her Catnip. PEEEEEETTTTTTTAAAAAA (Peeta) is the baker's boy and Katniss's district partner in the Hunger Games.
Prim gets 'reaped' for the Hunger Games, but Katniss volunteers and goes to the Games in place of her.
All the districts make different things.
1 - luxury items for the Capitol
2 - weaponry, trains, and supplies
Peacekeepers.
3 - technology
4 - seafood
5 - power
6 - transportation
7 - lumber
8 - textiles
9 - grain
10 - livestock
11 - agriculture
12 - coal mining (Katniss is from this district)
(holds up a sign and it says) "I am sorry, I can not speak yet. But i can not help but notice that Chapel has the makings to become a powerful Magical Girl. I am wondering if she would be interested in signing a contract with me to be come one."
Yes, I would! I actually drew a "magical girl" version of myself over at my tumblr, complete with an outfit and powers.
Although according to my friend (who's seen all of Madoka, while I've only seen the first episode) I don't know the "true meaning" of the contract yet...So no spoilers, please!
(grabs my claymore sword... yes, I DO have one and know how to use it, and chops Kyubey in two, Homura style)
Emma! I watched that show as well and I know what will happen to you if you make a contract with that monster!
... i Think i see another Kyubey coming, so run away Emma! JUST RUN! and take the other girls in this comment zone with you! I'll hold him off as long as I can!
truthfully, This show is very good and deep, but it is NOT like any other magical girl show you have ever seen. The only reason i am not telling you hold off watching it is that i would like to think that you are old enough to handle it. watch the next two episodes and then make up your mind if you can handle any more.
Well, I watched the next two in the background while coloring tomorrow's strip and I LOVE it. I was so not expecting that to happen to Mami, but the dark twist is really fascinating. This is definitely my kind of thing!
(holds up a sign) "That was rather rude of you Dr. Taxil. We were just trying to get Emma and the other potential magical girl talent to sign contracts with me"
YAAAY I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON!
Emma, the various manga/anime conversations that go on on this site have caused me to look up so many things on Google...you have no idea.
Latest search: Kyubey.
Heehee...just realized how awesome the name of your website is...above the URL, it says "Chapel Chronicles-- Stylish young redhead with a hedgehog sidekick"
Love it :3
just had a thought i see that chapel doesn't have hands or fingers and maybe i can use that design to give her like lite blades on her wrists or something
Miyazanki rarely writes an original work any more. Howl's Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away, all of these are stories he copied (Spirited away is suposedly a retelling of Alice in wonderland and Porco Rosso is a legend)
The Borrowers was one of my favorite stories growing up I should totally go see this new film (I hadn't actually heard of it until yesterday)
Emma-
It would be cool if you did a chapel comics contest, where you could submit a comic, and the winning one could be on the website, or get Chapel store stuff.
My parents haven't really thought of any crazy or weird ways to punish me. And, yes, I did have a happy Valentine's Day, and I haven't eaten that much of my candy yet, and, most likely, I probably won't finish it. (Maybe). One kid in my class ate all of his candy in one day! I think it was the same day that we got all of the candy. Maybe I'll give some candy to my friends or to my brother.
Awesome strip!
And are we talking about studio ghibli? Yay yay yay biggest fan!!!! I was in Ireland last august, right when Arietty happened to come out in theaters there! Really really nice film--not as plot driven as others but (of course) the animation is BEAUTIFUL.
Yes, it is beautiful! I saw it a few days ago! Very strange that it came out such a long time ago in Ireland, though, since it's only just now coming out here...
the only time i remember my parents doing something like that is when i was like 9 or 10...i kept fighting with this girl on the neoboards (lol) so my mom said i couldn't go on the computer for an obscene amount of time. er, it FELT obscene, at least. i can't remember how long it actually was.
hopefully i won't do anything worthy of too much punishment in the next few years! :P grounding doesn't really work when you're homeschooled and a mile in the woods, so
Lexdysic, hey! Oh my gosh I used to play Neopets all the time...ALSO you're homeschooled too? I didn't know that! And yeah, grounding doesn't really work too well on us homeschoolers, does it? XD

I might see it soon.....oh yeah, what's your fav movie in studio Ghibli? I really enjoy Kiki's Delivery Service, but there are so many good movies that studio Ghibli has made.....
Princess Mononoke is one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of steampunk so Howl's Moving Castle and Laputa: Castle in the Air are favorites too. I only saw Kiki's Delivery Service once. Might watch it again.
Heheh...you rock, Mrs. Smith. Smooth.
YES I'm for Chapelaniacs now. I'm in love with that name <3
My parents always threaten to take my iPad away, because I'm absolutely addicted to that thing.
Hi Emma! Thanks for this comic it's really nicely drawn (like all of your comics haha)!!!! On Valentine's Day nothing unusual happened... :( but it was a good day! ^_^ What was your Valentine's Day like? :)
Let's see...on Valentine's Day I mostly just did homework and some drawings for fun! (I know, I know, totally exciting Valentine's Day). I'm glad you had a good day and I'm so happy you like the strip!
POOOOR CHAPEL-- that would be THE worst punishment EVER. That would be almost as bad as finding Justin Bieber posters plastered all over your walls. Must say, though, Chapel's got a clever mom!
I had a pretty good Valentine's Day-- other than the fact that I spent the whole day laying on the couch sick. My dad brought gifts home for everybody, you know, those adorable little stuffed animals in drinking mugs. Best of all, my best friend's mom had her baby boy on Valentine's Day!
My discipline wasn't terribly creative, but it was effective! Like you, my mother would ban the computer - though she only took my books if I left them lying around where they shouldn't be haha. Otherwise, I was generally given chores, or had my pocket money confiscated. Pretty standard!
When we see chapel's parents they should be like the adults in Peanuts or in Muppet babies methinks. No head, just a body with the head off-panel. Although Chapel might be too old to do that trope properly.

The League of Fonts
THE LEAGUE OF FONTS is where typefaces are born. Every time a font is created in the world, it manifests as a living, breathing, Font – human for all intents and purposes, but unable to age or die unless their typeface falls into disuse. They live together on the League of Fonts, which serves as a secret island hub, bustling corporation, and home. It’s a world full of its own internal intrigues like any office, and Times New Roman is its powerful CEO. He’s got a lot on his plate lately: planning the League’s famous Decennial party, struggling with modern technology, and hiding his embarrassing addiction to the Twilight movies. Times New Roman is confident he can keep everything under control…but what’s an old font to do when a young boy named Louis Pepping accidentally stumbles onto the secrets of the League?
Find out every Wednesday!
Once my Mom told me I couldnt read and that i had to play board games with my brothers! We ALL complained and it was a VERY long two hours!
They are okay....most of the time
Youre amazing! Where did you come up with Chapel? She is SOOOOOOO funny! And the porcipine SOOOOOO cute!

Hi! I LOVE your comics! My friend Neha just showed me them. SOOOOO funny!
Interesting. Sounds like my mom. Are you an only child?

I loved Bond, Chapel, Bond.

well, I don't like him.

it's a pity we STILL didn't get to see her on screen. Miss Emma, when will we see her and chapel's dad?
