And now, for something completely serious...depending on the DRM scheme in use, poor Chapel might have a really hard (and/or expensive) time getting "her" music back. Too bad she spent her allowance on Gaga outfits ;)

Emma-
Once my Mom told me I couldnt read and that i had to play board games with my brothers! We ALL complained and it was a VERY long two hours!
2/23/12 responder
I LOVE board games, though! They're one of my absolute favorite things to do!

2/23/12 responder

2/23/12 responder
It's not today, it's the 23rd of March! I can't wait for it! :D
2/23/12 responder
Sweet! I'm actually am not a huge HG fan.. probably because I have NOT read the books yet..... Have you ever read Gregor the Overlander? It's the same author as the Hunger Games.... I've read most of it, I just haven't read like some of the last book, but I think you should read it!
2/23/12 responder
Hmm, I've heard about those books! I need to try them, especially since you like them!
2/23/12 responder
Oh my god oh my god I NEED TO GET TICKETS! My mom, my best friend, and I are all gonna go together! My mom and I ADORE Peeta, but my friend likes Gale better...
2/23/12 responder
the books are amazing yay movie gonna see it for my birthday
Yarin 2/24/12 responder
I have never read the book. So, what is the whole idea of the book?
2/23/12 responder
...
WUT
YOU MUST READ THE HUNGER GAMES
Honestly, it's WAY too complicated to explain here, but basically it's set several thousand years into the future in a country called Panem (meaning bread in Latin). It's run by a cruel government called the Captiol, run by evil President Coriolanus Snow. Each year since an infamous rebellion occurred that destroyed the 13th District of Panem, there is an annual Hunger Games, which pits one boy and girl, ages 12 to 18, from each of the 12 remaining Districts against each other in a fight to the death.
See? Very complicated, and I haven't even gotten to Katniss or Prim or Gale or...
PEEEEEEETTTTTTTAAAAAA <333333
2/24/12 responder
Why is the country called bread? And why were the hunger games assembled? So Confusing I guess I'll have to read it
3/2/12 responder
OMG LUV THAT BOOK!!! I hav red it a billion times!
3/5/12 responder
This response's information is courtesy of yabbering friend.
The Hunger Games were assembled to put on a show for the rich snotty people from the Capitol. The whole thing is live (I think) on television, as I said, for entertainment.
I'm not sure, but I don't really think the country is called bread.
3/22/12 responder
And the districts get poorer as the numbers increase.
Katniss is the main character, Prim (Primrose) is her sister. Gale is her friend who calls her Catnip. PEEEEEETTTTTTTAAAAAA (Peeta) is the baker's boy and Katniss's district partner in the Hunger Games.
Prim gets 'reaped' for the Hunger Games, but Katniss volunteers and goes to the Games in place of her.
All the districts make different things.
1 - luxury items for the Capitol
2 - weaponry, trains, and supplies
Peacekeepers.
3 - technology
4 - seafood
5 - power
6 - transportation
7 - lumber
8 - textiles
9 - grain
10 - livestock
11 - agriculture
12 - coal mining (Katniss is from this district)
3/22/12 responder
and no I haven't read the books.

(holds up a sign and it says) "I am sorry, I can not speak yet. But i can not help but notice that Chapel has the makings to become a powerful Magical Girl. I am wondering if she would be interested in signing a contract with me to be come one."
2/22/12 responder
Oh my god BEST COMMENT EVER! How did you know that I just started watching Madoka Magica? You must be psychic...
2/23/12 responder
/人◕‿‿ ◕人\

(holds up sign) Would you want to sign a contract with me Emma?
2/23/12 responder
Yes, I would! I actually drew a "magical girl" version of myself over at my tumblr, complete with an outfit and powers.

Although according to my friend (who's seen all of Madoka, while I've only seen the first episode) I don't know the "true meaning" of the contract yet...So no spoilers, please!
2/23/12 responder
DEAR GOD NOOOOO!!!!

(grabs my claymore sword... yes, I DO have one and know how to use it, and chops Kyubey in two, Homura style)

Emma! I watched that show as well and I know what will happen to you if you make a contract with that monster!

... i Think i see another Kyubey coming, so run away Emma! JUST RUN! and take the other girls in this comment zone with you! I'll hold him off as long as I can!
2/24/12 responder
Please no spoilers! I've only seen episode 1 so far!
2/24/12 responder
O_o.....

truthfully, This show is very good and deep, but it is NOT like any other magical girl show you have ever seen. The only reason i am not telling you hold off watching it is that i would like to think that you are old enough to handle it. watch the next two episodes and then make up your mind if you can handle any more.
2/24/12 responder
Well, I watched the next two in the background while coloring tomorrow's strip and I LOVE it. I was so not expecting that to happen to Mami, but the dark twist is really fascinating. This is definitely my kind of thing!
2/24/12 responder
very well, all i will say is that IT GETS WORSE from there on!

(chops another Kyubey into bits)

I side with Horuma, btw!
2/24/12 responder

(holds up a sign) "That was rather rude of you Dr. Taxil. We were just trying to get Emma and the other potential magical girl talent to sign contracts with me"
2/24/12 responder
YAAAY I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON!
Emma, the various manga/anime conversations that go on on this site have caused me to look up so many things on Google...you have no idea.
Latest search: Kyubey.
2/24/12 responder
there are more to this world than Harry Potter young one.
2/25/12 responder
Oh, I know, I'm just not really into anime/manga so I'm lost.
2/25/12 responder
Yes, we know.....

Speaking of which has anyone here read the City of Ember and/or Magyk? (They are both quite awesome)
4/1/12 responder

Chapel's Faithful!! That sounds so cool!
Morgan 2/22/12 responder
i thought so too!

(holds up sign) rather difficult to work on these things with out thumbs.
2/23/12 responder
I would imagine. Perhaps you're using your strange ear-things...
2/23/12 responder
(opens nearby window. Grabs Kyubey and punts its out the window HARD. closes window)

that should keep it- (turns around and there is Kyubey again, seemingly unharmed)

I like Chapel'sface in the last panel! It's funny, because she freaked out about the Justin Bieber singles that her mom put on there! Ha ha!!!!
2/21/12 responder
Thanks so much, I'm really glad you like it! Wouldn't you be freaked out if all your music was replaced, too?
2/22/12 responder

HI EMMA!!! THIS IS DR JOHN WATSON! I'm STALKING YOUR WEBSITE NOW
2/21/12 responder
Wow.....ok........
2/22/12 responder
Ahh, it's just my friend from summer camp! She goes by the name "John Watson" sometimes XD
2/22/12 responder
ok.... well, Hi!
2/22/12 responder
You seem to have quite a lot of friends IRL who are coming to your comic.
2/22/12 responder
Hmm, not really! The few of my irl friends who read Chapel just lurk instead of commenting (Grace, I'm looking at you..!)
2/23/12 responder

I just saw " The Secret World of Arietty"! It was a really good movie......
2/21/12 responder
OOHHH really?!?! Lucky!
2/21/12 responder
I saw it too! Ahhhh it was SO BEATIFUL!
2/21/12 responder
I'm rather torn over this. I love the animation and such, but i hate the disney. what to do... :-/
2/22/12 responder
See it anyway.
4/1/12 responder
I want to see that movie too!
2/21/12 responder

Heehee...just realized how awesome the name of your website is...above the URL, it says "Chapel Chronicles-- Stylish young redhead with a hedgehog sidekick"
Love it :3
2/20/12 responder
Thanks so much! Most people don't notice it, ha ha!
2/21/12 responder

just had a thought i see that chapel doesn't have hands or fingers and maybe i can use that design to give her like lite blades on her wrists or something
Yarin 2/20/12 responder
And yes I know it's an artistic design I'm not bashing you for it I'm just being creative and sleep deprived Hug
Yarin 2/20/12 responder
Go here
Yarin 2/20/12 responder
Just search for 3 baby hedgehogs
Yarin 2/20/12 responder
Um...if you put in a link, we block those because of spam. And sure, blades or something would be fine...
2/21/12 responder
Didnt realize until after I posted lol but it makes sense and isnt arietty just an animated version of the borrowers
Yarin 2/21/12 responder
Yes, but Miyazaki still puts his own spin on the story!
2/22/12 responder
good then i will go see it
Yarin 2/22/12 responder
Miyazanki rarely writes an original work any more. Howl's Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, Spirited Away, all of these are stories he copied (Spirited away is suposedly a retelling of Alice in wonderland and Porco Rosso is a legend)
The Borrowers was one of my favorite stories growing up I should totally go see this new film (I hadn't actually heard of it until yesterday)
stikibunn 2/23/12 responder
well Miyazaki's movie's are really good whether it was already a story or not right?
2/23/12 responder
Yes, I agree! None of his stories were "copies," they're just adaptations, and excellent ones! :D
2/23/12 responder

Emma-
It would be cool if you did a chapel comics contest, where you could submit a comic, and the winning one could be on the website, or get Chapel store stuff.
2/19/12 responder
Hmm, I'd have to see who's interested!
2/22/12 responder
I am!
2/22/12 responder
Ooh, really? Awesome! Anyone else?
2/23/12 responder
ME!
4/1/12 responder

My parents haven't really thought of any crazy or weird ways to punish me. And, yes, I did have a happy Valentine's Day, and I haven't eaten that much of my candy yet, and, most likely, I probably won't finish it. (Maybe). One kid in my class ate all of his candy in one day! I think it was the same day that we got all of the candy. Maybe I'll give some candy to my friends or to my brother.
2/19/12 responder
That's a good idea, I'm sure your brother would like it! You should totally give some to him :D
2/22/12 responder

Emma-
Hi! I LOVE your comics! My friend Neha just showed me them. SOOOOO funny!
2/18/12 responder
Wow, thank you! That's super great to hear!
2/22/12 responder

Hi Emma-
Interesting. Sounds like my mom. Are you an only child?

-Neha
2/18/12 responder
Hi Emma-
I loved Bond, Chapel, Bond.
They're great for laughing over.
2/18/12 responder
Yay, thanks so much! I love hearing that my comics have made someone laugh!
2/23/12 responder
Yep, I am an only child! I don't get into trouble very much, though!
2/22/12 responder

Oh wow. Dr. Smith strikes again!! That would totally work on me...
Oh, and I like Chapelites. Chapel club is a bit of a mouthful.
2/18/12 responder
Yay, Chapelites! My suggestion :D
2/21/12 responder

Oh yeah, I forget if I've said or not...I like "Chapelites"! While Chapelaniacs is cool too, it seems a little "clumsy" in that it's so long xD
2/18/12 responder
Hmm, I see what you mean! And I'm glad you like Chapelites!
2/22/12 responder

It could be worse: she could have replaced everything with Nickleback.
heavyweather 2/18/12 responder
My mom actually likes Nickleback...
2/22/12 responder

Awesome strip!
And are we talking about studio ghibli? Yay yay yay biggest fan!!!! I was in Ireland last august, right when Arietty happened to come out in theaters there! Really really nice film--not as plot driven as others but (of course) the animation is BEAUTIFUL.
ava 2/18/12 responder
Yes, it is beautiful! I saw it a few days ago! Very strange that it came out such a long time ago in Ireland, though, since it's only just now coming out here...
2/22/12 responder

the only time i remember my parents doing something like that is when i was like 9 or 10...i kept fighting with this girl on the neoboards (lol) so my mom said i couldn't go on the computer for an obscene amount of time. er, it FELT obscene, at least. i can't remember how long it actually was.
hopefully i won't do anything worthy of too much punishment in the next few years! :P grounding doesn't really work when you're homeschooled and a mile in the woods, so
lexdysic 2/18/12 responder
Lexdysic, hey! Oh my gosh I used to play Neopets all the time...ALSO you're homeschooled too? I didn't know that! And yeah, grounding doesn't really work too well on us homeschoolers, does it? XD
2/18/12 responder
oh my GAWD, NEOPETS! I used to LOVE THAT SITE!!!!
Oh, plots, how I loved you.
2/18/12 responder
.....And here i remembered when Tamagotchi was a new thing and i thought Neopets were just a rip off them. now i feel older now. -_-
2/18/12 responder
Oh, I used to play Tamagotchi! Neopets are pretty different, though!
2/23/12 responder
OOOOHHHH DID SOMEONE MENTION TAMAGOTCHIS?? i love those things!!

2/18/12 responder
Ghibli is just SO great...
2/23/12 responder
Oh! I totally wanna see that movie! Studio Ghibli ROCKS!
2/17/12 responder
YES another Studio Ghibli fan!
2/17/12 responder
It comes out today! I'm hoping to see it sometime this weekend! I LOVE STUDIO GHIBLI SO MUCH...
2/17/12 responder
I might see it soon.....oh yeah, what's your fav movie in studio Ghibli? I really enjoy Kiki's Delivery Service, but there are so many good movies that studio Ghibli has made.....
2/18/12 responder
OH MY GAWD I LOVE YOU
KIKI HAS CHANGED MY LIFE
That's the only one I've seen, I even named my dog Kiki after her XD
2/18/12 responder
Sweet! Totoro is a good movie too..... and Totoro is just so cute! You should see the other ones there are so much more.....:)
2/20/12 responder
Yeah I have to see more Studio Ghibli movies ^^
Katherine 2/21/12 responder
Princess Mononoke is one of my favorites. I'm a big fan of steampunk so Howl's Moving Castle and Laputa: Castle in the Air are favorites too. I only saw Kiki's Delivery Service once. Might watch it again.
stikibunn 2/23/12 responder
Awwwww... Castle in the Sky made me cry at the end. soooooooo sad...
4/1/12 responder
OH MY GOSH DID SOMEONE MENTION KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE!!!! love that movie!!
4/1/12 responder
STUDIO GHIBLI IS AWESOME!!! I LOVE the movie Totoro! You can look it up! ^^
Katherine 2/18/12 responder

Heheh...you rock, Mrs. Smith. Smooth.
YES I'm for Chapelaniacs now. I'm in love with that name <3
My parents always threaten to take my iPad away, because I'm absolutely addicted to that thing.
2/17/12 responder
Well, I meant that that was a nice, well-thought-out punishment, NOT that I like the Beibs.
Because he's g-a-y.
2/17/12 responder
Hey, being gay isn't a bad thing, so please don't use it negatively. Thanks!
2/17/12 responder
Oh, I didn't mean it like that. Oops.
well, I don't like him.
Now I feel crappy... Sorry!
2/17/12 responder
Ahh, it's totally fine, don't feel crappy! I just wanted to clarify what you meant!
2/17/12 responder
(blinks) the term "Gay" can also mean "Happy" if ment in that way. but it is an old way of speaking.
2/18/12 responder
Yes, I know that usage! She was using it the other way though, but that's neither here nor there!
2/23/12 responder
Chapelaniacs is pretty good! And you have an iPad? That's awesome!
2/17/12 responder

Hi Emma! Thanks for this comic it's really nicely drawn (like all of your comics haha)!!!! On Valentine's Day nothing unusual happened... :( but it was a good day! ^_^ What was your Valentine's Day like? :)
Katherine 2/17/12 responder
Oh, and I like the name Chapelites! (\(^_^)/)
Katherine 2/17/12 responder
YES! My suggestion! Although to be honest all of them are great, so it's so hard to choose...
2/17/12 responder
Yeah totally! XD
Katherine 2/18/12 responder
Let's see...on Valentine's Day I mostly just did homework and some drawings for fun! (I know, I know, totally exciting Valentine's Day). I'm glad you had a good day and I'm so happy you like the strip!
2/17/12 responder
That's still a good Valentine's Day! Yes, I LOVE the strip! Haha!
Katherine 2/18/12 responder

POOOOR CHAPEL-- that would be THE worst punishment EVER. That would be almost as bad as finding Justin Bieber posters plastered all over your walls. Must say, though, Chapel's got a clever mom!

I had a pretty good Valentine's Day-- other than the fact that I spent the whole day laying on the couch sick. My dad brought gifts home for everybody, you know, those adorable little stuffed animals in drinking mugs. Best of all, my best friend's mom had her baby boy on Valentine's Day!
2/17/12 responder
Yes, Chapel's mom IS clever! That's a shame that you were sick though, but at least you got presents and your friend got a baby brother! :D
2/23/12 responder

I also really love that last expression! LOL!!!!
2/17/12 responder
Haha I love it too! XD
Katherine 2/17/12 responder

Omigosh! That is hilarious!!! I am NOT a Justin Bieber fan at ALL! Oh and I vote for either Chapelites or Chapelaniacs!
2/17/12 responder
Yeah I like those too! (The names, that is!)
2/17/12 responder

My discipline wasn't terribly creative, but it was effective! Like you, my mother would ban the computer - though she only took my books if I left them lying around where they shouldn't be haha. Otherwise, I was generally given chores, or had my pocket money confiscated. Pretty standard!
2/17/12 responder
Yes, my mother would do the same thing with the computer. Quite frustrating.
2/17/12 responder
Ooh, that IS frustrating!
2/17/12 responder
Ah, I guess that just goes to show that all mothers are pretty similar in their punishments! Except for Chapel's mom, of course -- she's extra clever!
2/17/12 responder

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! And Chapel's mom wins once more! She knows everything, EVERYTHING!

it's a pity we STILL didn't get to see her on screen. Miss Emma, when will we see her and chapel's dad?
2/17/12 responder
(add on SFX of evil lighting and thunder as i was laughing for more visural refrence. Evil Mad Scientist or frustrated Fluttershy style, your pic)
2/17/12 responder
Fluttershy bro hoof doctor yeah they didn't have all these new fangled technology when I was a kid so it was basically stop reading and go to sleep
Yarin 2/17/12 responder
(bro-hoofs Yarin) i was not a night person when i was a kid. when it started to get late, i just zonked out and when to sleep anyway.
2/17/12 responder
HEY!!! What's wrong with JB???
2/26/12 responder
um, nothing, but Chapel's not a huge fan of him....
5/9/12 responder
Hmm, I haven't decided yet! I do want to show them someday, though! AND YES, Chapel's mom is all-knowing!
2/17/12 responder
When we see chapel's parents they should be like the adults in Peanuts or in Muppet babies methinks. No head, just a body with the head off-panel. Although Chapel might be too old to do that trope properly.
stikibunn 2/23/12 responder
